Fix Your Offer: Why No One Gets What You Really Do

You know that uncomfortable moment when someone asks, “So, what exactly do you do?” and your answer is met with a polite smile, a nod, and… confusion?

Fix Your Offer

Yeah. That’s not just awkward. It’s a signal.

If you're a coach, consultant, or entrepreneur, and people still don't really get what you actually offer this blog is for you. Because the issue isn’t always with your work. It's with your offer clarity.

Let’s fix that.

The Invisible Offer Syndrome

So many brilliant, heart-led professionals live in what I call “invisible value mode.”

You're great at what you do. You know you can help people. But when it’s time to explain your offer, you:

  • Ramble.

  • Get abstract.

  • Overuse industry jargon or spiritual fluff.

  • Say too much... or not enough.

And then you wonder why your audience scrolls past your posts, why discovery calls don’t convert, or why people say “that sounds amazing!” and never follow up.

It’s not because you’re not credible.

It’s because your offer doesn’t translate.

Why This Happens (It’s Not Just Strategy—It’s Somatic)

Most people assume the problem is marketing. And yes, your copy might need help but the root often runs deeper. You've fused your identity with your offer. You are the work. So describing it feels like trying to summarize your soul in a sentence.

That’s vulnerable. That’s complex.

So instead of getting clear, you:

  • Hide behind vague mission statements.

  • Use poetic but confusing language (“I help you rise in your divine frequency to align your soul’s purpose”… what?).

  • Or you try to sound impressive, hoping complexity will compensate for clarity.

But your nervous system can tell when you're not grounded in what you're saying. So can your clients. Confusion in your body breeds confusion in your brand.

The “Explain It to a 12-Year-Old” Test

One of the kindest things you can do for yourself and your audience is this:

💡 Can a 12-year-old understand what you do?

Try this:

“I help [who] go from [pain/problem] to [result/relief] through [method].”

Examples:

  • “I help burned-out professionals rebuild their energy and boundaries through somatic coaching and nervous system work.”

  • “I help new business owners clarify their message and turn it into an offer people want to buy.”

  • “I help women who've lost themselves in caregiving reconnect to their identity and needs.”

If your offer feels too big for one sentence, it’s probably too fuzzy to buy.

Real Talk: Hiding in Complexity Is Emotional Armor

Let’s be honest, some of us hide in the fog.

We don’t want to niche because we don’t want to be pinned down.

We stay “multi-passionate” because choosing feels like shrinking.

We stay vague because being fully seen feels too raw.

But here’s the truth:

Vague offers protect your ego, not your income.

If no one understands what you do, they can’t trust you enough to buy from you.

Clarity isn’t reduction. It’s resonance.

From Abstract to Aligned: 3 Fixes for Your Offer

1. Speak the Pain First

Before people care about your method, they need to feel understood. Lead with their pain or frustration, not your title.

Instead of: “I’m a certified transformational life coach helping women step into their next level.”

Try: “You know that feeling when you wake up dreading your own to-do list? I help women get their spark back, without burning everything down.”

2. Anchor in Outcomes

People don’t buy your process. They buy your outcomes. What changes after working with you?

Ask yourself:

  • What can they do now that they couldn’t before?

  • How do they feel after your work?

  • What tangible shifts happen?

Then use that language.

3. Test with a Stranger

Grab someone outside your industry: friend, partner, even a 15-year-old. Say your offer out loud.

Then ask: “Do you understand what that means?”

If they look confused, ask: “What part didn’t land?”

Let them help you simplify without dumbing it down.

Your Offer Isn’t You - But It Does Represent You

You’re more than your services. But your offer is the bridge between someone’s pain and your power. When it’s clear, your work becomes more accessible, more booked, and more impactful.

So let’s rewrite the internal story:

❌ “If I niche or simplify, I’ll lose parts of myself.”

✅ “When I clarify my offer, more people get to receive what I uniquely bring.”
